roots and branches

soul-space is rooted unapologetically in the Christian soil that nourished its birth, and so we seek to honour Christian belief and spiritual practices, drawing on the Church’s rich traditions and heritage but always without imposing this on others. Not easy! Yet this is an essential aspect of soul-space as we believe that faith should not be forced. We all need space to find our way and while we may offer Christian truth as signposts we will not dictate the direction of travel. Come and journey with us!

soul-space is therefore totally open about the faith that sustains many of us, but we want to welcome anyone drawn to this community because you also seek to engage with the things that intrigue us. We want you to feel you can contribute and participate. So don’t let your faith or lack of it make you hesitant to belong – as our shared events are listed in our calendar it will be obvious what aspect of soul-space is linked to each of them!

soul-space really rates the things that Jesus had to say about life and religion! He’s a hero of ours! He once said something which we particularly love:

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out? Especially on religion? Come to me! Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (The Bible, Matthew 11:28 – 30)

He invited people to walk alongside Him, offering a way to what He called the abundant life and soul-space is taking part in the adventure that comes from taking Him up on His offer and finding out what this full and rich life might look like for us. So we invite you to walk with us, and whether you have a faith or not, or are just unsure or simply just intrigued about faith and spirituality, we hope that you will enjoy joining us on the way!
